Belfast actor Kristian Nairn - best known for playing Hodor in fantasy series Game of Thrones - has 'come out' in an interview about his popularity among gay men.

The actor opened up about his sexuality when an online reporter quizzed him about his standing in the homosexual community.

He tells that he has been trying to 'come out' for years - but no one asked him the right question.

He explained: "I've never hidden my sexuality from anyone... and I've been waiting for someone to ask about it in an interview, because it's not something you just blurt out. I've tried to lead the questions a few times, to no avail!

"It's a very small part of who I am, on the whole, but nonetheless, in this day and age, it's important to stand up and be counted. I have and always will stand my ground."
