HBO's hit fantasy series Game of Thrones has boosted the Northern Ireland economy in recent years and local businesses continue to benefit from its production - including Steensons jewellers, whose Co Antrim-based workshop crafts unique pieces for the programme.

The designers have had their jewellery featured in all four series of the popular programme and, as a result, have seen an increase in interest in their workshop in the picturesque village of Glenarm.

Jeweller Brona Spencer told UTV: "We've had people phoning to enquire about what was made and whether or not pieces can be replicated. We get a lot of tourists in to see where it was made."

She added: "There are the fanatics out there. They do get really into it and they want to know exactly what we've made.

"They do want them replicated, but obviously with HBO there are design and copyright issues, so we won't replicate something exactly as we made it for Game of Thrones."

Dan Spencer added: "It's something a bit different to making platinum engagement rings.

"It's quite pleasing and satisfying to think that you actually made that, considering how popular (the series) has become."

The workshop has created a huge number of pieces for the Game of Thrones production, including the crown worn by the young tyrant King Joffrey.

"There's quite a lot of work really, especially with a crown," said Dan. "We only made one of each crown because they are so time consuming and quite costly to make.

"We tend to use a combination of the traditional techniques and some of the more modern techniques."
