On Thursday it was announced Amanda Holden's golden buzzer act had to pull out of the competition as Paddy has suffered the injury while rehearsing for the show in Spain, where she and dancing partner Nico live.

However she began to feel better once she arrived in the UK with plans to sit in the audience during the last semi-final, and a specialist cleared her at the last minute to perform.

The pair performed another salsa inspired routine for the judges, with Paddy showing no sign of injury as she was hurled in the air by her partner.

"I salute your courage," Simon Cowell told her. "I am amazed, you have great determination and great spirit."

Amanda said: "I adore you both. You are the epitome of Great Britain and I think the Royal family will adore you if you win a spot at this year's Royal Variety Show."

Paddy and Nico were pitted against young singer Bailey McConnell for the judges' votes, with Simon backing Bailey, while Amanda, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams all voted for the salsa dancing pair.

You showed incredible bravery tonight.

Bailey performed his own "authentic" song Growing Pains during Saturday's semi-final.

Alesha told him: "You are planting the seeds right now for your career, and good things are going to grow from them."

"You have such a gorgeous and clean tone to your voice," added Amanda.

Winning the last semi-final of the series was four-piece swing vocal group Jack Pack who performed an "exceptional" rendition of Frank Sinatra's My Way.

"For something like this to work you need two things," Simon told them. "One, good voices and two, a respect for the era. You have both those things.

"We haven't got a group like this and I was very impressed."

This is an act that can work globally.

David Walliams hailed them as "the performance of the evening", while Amanda told them: "That was absolutely exceptional, you are a dream boy group."

Meanwhile all eyes were on comedian and impressionist Jenson Zhu, who gathered some laughs during his original audition, but failed to make Simon smile.

For the semi-final the China-born translator perform a routine which boasted impersonations of Alan Carr, Michael Jackson and Simon Cowell himself.

Despite managing a smile by the end of the routine, Simon told him: "You are the worst impressionists I have ever seen. I don't know whether it's that you are trying to be funny, or if it's that you are funny because you are bad."

Amanda said: "It was so bad, it was good", While Alesha admitted she was "pleasantly surprised" by his performance.

Also performing on Saturday night was drag act La Voix and the London Gay Big Band, Latin dance group Kings & Queens, singers Andrew Derbyshire and Peat Loaf & Elaine, and dancer Kieran Lai.
