A Co Kildare farmer has claimed that one of his sheep has given birth to a goat-sheep hybrid.

Paddy Murphy told the Irish Farmers Journal that he noticed the unusual looking lamb a fortnight ago.

"It had all the hallmarks of a goat. I knew a goat had gotten in among a few of the hoggets, I didn't know what would turn out," he explained.

"They were all normal lambs apart from this fella. He looks like a goat, trapped in a lamb's body, a geep I think it's called!"

Mr Murphy, who also owns a pub in Ballymore Eustace, said the animal has been a big talking point in the town.

"He even has horns like a goat and he is very quick on his feet. He's perfectly healthy and thriving away," he continued.

"He has been a great source of craic for the lads in the pub, we might even have a competition to name him."

But he added that, although he has provided entertainment, he does not wish to see any additional 'geeps' in his flock.
