The Slumdog Millionaire moviemaker, artistic director of the opening ceremony on 27 July, has urged the 10,000 volunteers participating in the show to "stay virtuous" after spoilers emerged.
In an email, Boyle explains: "Many of you have been dismayed by the media scrutiny on the show. I am sorry that, despite our best efforts, we appear to be unable to stop these stories appearing in the press."
The Oscar winner revealed plans for a "British countryside" theme at a press conference last month, but subsequent UK newspaper reports have included unsanctioned information about the much-anticipated event.
Cast and crew members were asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement before joining rehearsals.
