The Hollyoaks star was voted off by the public following the first show of the final series.

The ninth season of Dancing On Ice sees the return of former champions and fan favourites and Jorgie was hotly tipped to repeat her success from 2010 when she reached the final.

Unfortunately drama off the ice may have led to her elimination, as it was well documented that she was unhappy to be partnered with professional skater Sylvain Longchambon for the current series.

Sylvain had previously dated Jorgie's best friend and co-star Jennifer Metcalfe after they were partnered together when the actress took part in the show.

However the professional skater broke off the relationship in 2012 after he was partnered with Coronation Street actress Samia Ghadie and the two began dating.

When Jorgie was told she would be skating with her friend's ex-boyfriend, she joked: "Does this mean I have to be his girlfriend now?"

But despite the pair insisting they were getting on well, the public voted Jorgie and Sylvain out of the competition, leaving the actress devastated and unable to speak through her tears.

"I think I realised I really cared then," she told Dancing On Ice hosts Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley during This Morning on Monday.

"I thought maybe I didn't care as much, but then obviously I did.

"We had so much more to prove skating wise."

Meanwhile Phillip addressed the response on Twitter to his handling of the situation during the live show, as many fans felt he was insensitive in joking about the awkward partnerhip.

The presenter described it has having the "sense of humour wheels fall off" while Jorgie insisted she thought she handled the situation well.

"To be honest I didn't really know what was going on," she said.

"What can you do? The only way to handle it was how I handled it."

Also eliminated from the competition on Sunday was comedian Joe Pasquale, who came sixth during last year's show but was a huge favourite with the viewers.

He admitted he only agreed to come back for the final series as he knew he wouldn't last beyond the first week.

He explained: "I thought 'I'll enjoy the day, I'll enjoy the catering, I'll enjoy putting a nice costume on and I'll get my hair cut by a professional.'

"It was great; I loved every second of it."
