Stars of Coronation Street and Emmerdale have once again joined forces to promote another Summer of Soap on UTV, and this year they are living a fairy tale.

Various cast members take on iconic roles such as Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, as the village and the street prepare for another sizzling summer of drama.

"It's all about fairy tales and those age old stories that we recreate again in soaps," said actor Chris Bisson, who plays Emmerdale's Jai Sharma, in behind-the-scenes footage.

"I think it's a brilliant idea," added Beverley Callard, who plays Corrie's Liz McDonald.

"I loved it because I actually get to wear a full length dress, my hem lines are lower- I can't believe it!"

Not every member of the casts get to feature in the promos, so those who do get the chance know it is a special privilege.

"ITV always do this kind of thing very well," said Emmerdale's Mark Charnock, who plays Marlon Dingle.

"It always looks slick, it always looks so poetically beautiful, so it was quite flattering to be asked, really."

And, of course, the main aim of the promo is to encourage viewers to tune in to the soaps over the summer months

Jane Danson, who plays Corrie's Leanne Tilsely, said: "I know it's summer, but don't go out, stay in and watch Corrie because there's loads more to come.

"Make sure you watch Emmerdale this summer because you are in for a treat," added actress Emma Atkins, who plays Charity Macey.

"It is going to be hot!"
