Rock legend Eric Clapton has apologised after storming off stage during a concert in Scotland over the weekend.

Clapton apologises for storming off stage

The former Cream star performed to a sold-out crowd at the SSE Hydro arena in Glasgow on Saturday night, but angered fans when he walked off after an hour.

The incident prompted boos from the audience, and now a spokesperson for the rocker has blamed a technical glitch for the disruption.

The representative says: "Unfortunately... we experienced a steadily worsening technical problem with the PA system that the band battled with throughout the show.

"But by the last song of the set it became unbearable on stage and Eric was unable to complete that number (song).

"During the encore break we were able to reset and the band finished as planned with the last number. Eric is nevertheless sorry for the break in the concert."

A spokesperson for the venue adds: "The production team for last night's performance suffered a technical issue which resulted in the concert ending earlier than anticipated."
