And it looks like tensions will only escalate as she's been nominated for her fifth task of the series following the latest public vote.
The former Coronation Street star faced the Come Dive With Me challenge on Friday alongside Charlie Brooker from Eastenders.
As they prepared to go into the bug-filled tank, Helen appeared confident and described water as her "strong point", but nevertheless it was the nervous Charlie who stepped up first to try and retrieve stars and win meals for camp.
After a panicky couple of minutes she emerged with three stars and then it was Helen's turn - but the 22-year-old failed to follow the rules.
She lifted her four stars with her hands instead of using her teeth, despite hosts Ant and Dec trying to warn her.
"I'm afraid in the rules it said you have to take them off with your teeth, mouth and you used your hands in both domes," they said, as they confiscated the stars from a jubilant Helen as she climbed back out of the pool.
"I'm afraid they don't count. We were trying to tell you."
Disappointed, she replied: "I think it's because I panic so much, I forget using my teeth. I did my best."
The girls headed back to camp with three meals - but it seemed Helen's efforts, which come after a litany of failed trails, had frustrated Charlie.
She confronted the Eastenders actress, saying: "I can feel that you sometimes think I dramatise things. I don't that's my natural reaction."
Charlie replied: "I think sometimes, and I know that's you and I'm different and we are two completely different girls, I do sometimes think it's a little bit drama. That's not necessarily a bad thing."
Helen continued: "I'm naturally like that I'm not putting it on, that's what I want you to get."
Back at camp, the girls had to explain what happened to their disappointed co-stars.
When I saw the stars I was so happy to see them I forgot, I just grabbed them and put them in my pocket thinking 'oh my God that's two stars'.
A dejected Charlie explained: "They were disqualified because she didn't get them with her teeth."
As the camp mates looked, Helen continued: "I just got too excited to see them (the stars). I felt like such a loser when I came out. Guys I feel sensitive and emotional at the moment so if I get a bit weird then I'm sorry."
Charlie had more to say once they were apart.
"Just the silliness of it all," she confessed. "Just frustrates me. It's like you really need to get a grip sometimes."
She told the Bush Telegraph: "When you feel you have to walk on egg shells because you might say something that's going to make somebody cry, it becomes a little bit intolerable to live with all the time. I find myself losing my patience."
And it seemed some of the other campmates are also becoming annoyed with Helen's lack of success in the Bushtucker Trials.
Straight-talking former darts champion Eric Bristow told Charlie: "Glad I wasn't with her. It's hard work isn't it? She's useless."
Meanwhile singer Ashley Roberts and Made in Chelsea's Hugo also had the ex-Corrie star's failures in mind when they chatted in the hut.
Hugo said: "I'm very sympathetic about her not getting it but had the opportunity to win what 40 stars (over the last few challenges), she's won zero. I could see some people were furious. I could see Eric was furious. I could see it in his face to lose three meals on a technicality or just not listening is one thing everyone can do is listen."
Ashley replied: "Obviously going off and doing those things is traumatic. Today I felt like if I was there I probably would have excelled at it."
Hugo continued: "I'm trying to be accepting. She seems more bothered about what people think rather than about the hunger. So I don't know what's motivating her. I'm motivated to win by hunger. She's like 'fine, I don't want anything' and eats some toothpaste."
"She's young and coming in here for a reason - to learn. Everyone is mothering her a little bit too much. This is a great opportunity to discover something about yourself and if she gets treated exactly the same way she does in the real world that's not beneficial for her."
