Who is your favourite I’m A Celeb... campmate?
The 51-year-old, who quit on medical grounds after 10 days in the Australian jungle, told ITV's Daybreak he was suffering from malnutrition and exhaustion.
But Brian also admitted he had stopped taking anti-depressants he had been using for 15 years during filming - against the wishes of the show's producers.
"I'm lying in hospital being heavily sedated with a saline drip because I suffer from malnutrition and exhaustion, all because of a lovely, fluffy show that Ant and Dec do," he joked.
"I can tell you it's not fluffy out there - it's the real world."
While he hasn't started taking his medication again since leaving the show, Brian says the producers were right to insist that he should have while in the jungle.
"ITV is a big huge company, they have got to do it right and if I've brought these tablets in, I've got to take them," he added.
After it became clear that he was unwell, Brian was removed from the jungle camp to be examined by a doctor and was then admitted to hospital.
"They sedated me in hospital and gave me a tablet that would probably knock out a horse for two days," he recalled.
"I woke up with a saline drip in my arm thinking: 'What on earth has happened here?'"
While Brian was the first contestant to leave the jungle, MP Nadine Dorries was the first to actually be voted out by the public.
Singer Limahl then became the second campmate to be evicted.
