U2 rocker Bono has shut down rumours he is set to become one of the richest rockers in the world after Facebook's flotation on the stock exchange.

Bono shoots down billionaire reports

The social networking site became one of the US stock market's largest ever flotations, with the site eventually being valued at $105bn, more than McDonalds and Amazon.com, when trading closed on Friday.

Bono was rumoured to overtake Sir Paul McCartney in the money stakes thanks to his 2.3 per cent stake in the site which his investment group snapped up for $90mn in 2009.

It was believed the deal would net him around $1.5bn, outstripping McCartney's reported fortune of $1bn, but the superstar insists the Beatles legend is still the richest man in music.

He tells MSNBC: "Contrary to reports, I'm not a billionaire or going to be richer than any Beatle - and not just in the sense of money, by the way, the Beatles are untouchable - those billionaire reports are a joke."

how hard he must be to travel the world and harp on about poverty when you are labeled a billionaire, its much easier to ask people to think of the poor when you are only worth 900 million

for someone who goes on about world poverty and wants us normal ppl to donate why doesnt he just write a £100 million cheque and solve alot of peoples hunger problems? im sure he wud say something along the lines of " we need everyone in the world to give - no matter how small" as he keeps his hands in his pockets in one of his many mansions with full fridges.
