1D's Liam apologises for ledge photo

One Direction star Liam Payne has issued a public apology after he was pictured balancing precariously on a ledge outside his 34th floor apartment in London.

Fans were sent into a panic on Twitter after a friend of the singer uploaded a photograph of Payne posing in the dangerous position, next to a drop of around 360-feet.

The tweet was subsequently deleted and the star has now apologised for his reckless behaviour, branding it "stupid and irresponsible".

He writes: "You may have seen a photo of me today taken on top of a building. I regret being there and having a photo taken.

"It was a stupid and irresponsible thing to do. I am sorry, and do not endorse any fans trying to repeat this, as it is extremely dangerous."

The picture was reportedly taken over the weekend following One Direction bandmember Zayn Malik's 21st birthday party.
