North Belfast, with its interfaces and peace walls dividing Catholic and Protestant communities, is ranges from residential to deprived areas.
This constituency takes in the northern quarter of Belfast City Council and adjacent parts of Newtownabbey District Council.
In 2007, the DUP held two of the Assembly seats, as did Sinn Féin, with the UUP and SDLP on one each.
Sinn Féin has a strong team here but the SDLP will be confident of a strong performance as well. The DUP is fielding three candidates, which should see a scrap for the last seat with UUP stalwart Fred Cobain.
