As the week begins in Emmerdale Rachel panics as a police car draws up and shouts at Sam to run!

He takes to his heels but trips and is wrestled to the ground. At the station he is told that there is new evidence linking him to the Home Farm fire.

The police are surprised when he accuses Declan of setting him up, but he is charged and remanded in custody. Charity offers a deal that resembles a pact with the devil.

Bob is still worried about Brenda and her inability to get over Gennie's death, and is grateful when Harriet recommends a bereavement counselling service.

Brenda's reaction is one of anger and disbelief, but she eventually agrees to attend. She finds the whole experience less than satisfying however, and, indeed, takes to shoplifting, exhilarated by the sense of control it gives her.

Meanwhile, David makes it perfectly clear that he is not happy with Leyla being around.

Alicia tries to keep the peace, but matters get really worse when Priya and Leyla find a common bond in rubbishing David.

Pollard confides to Diane that he is worried about what is wrong with Val, but is later crushed when he realises that she just does not want him around.

Harriet is having trouble running the parish all by herself and asks Ashley is he would consider becoming HER curate!!!

Laurel actually urges him to agree, as this could be just the new start he needs, she thinks.

Meanwhile, over in Weatherfield....

Todd continues to flirt with Marcus, and when Eileen catches them having a snog she accuses Todd of trying to wreck Marcus and Maria's relationship! Todd tries to let Sean down gently.

Marcus and Maria's hopes of buying a house are soon dashed, much to jealous Todd's delight.

Poor Hayley's health continues to deteriorate and her appetite wanes further, despite friends and neighbours rallying round to find strawberries for her.

The locals decide to make jam with the excess stock of fruit. When the nurse decides to increase Hayley's morphine dosage, Roy realises that there is not long left.

After Hayley signals that she wishes to go ahead with her suicide plan, she and Roy visit friends to bid a final goodbye.

Meanwhile Kal encourages Dev to ask Stella out. Nick confides in Stella about his troubled home life, but Leanne is furious when she finds out about the conversation, causing a rift between the mother and daughter!

Stella quits the bistro and decides to take Dev up on his offer of attending the Weatherfield Retailers' Ball.

The bold Tracy Barlow tries to sabotage their date after Steve chooses to chauffeur them to the ball instead of her and Rob.

Despite initial financial setbacks, Owen convinces Anna that they should risk everything to buy into Phelan's lucrative mill conversion.

And Nick and Leanne plan a holiday!
