The former EastEnders actor first appeared on the show in 2009 and was soon the one to watch for all the wrong reasons.
The famous moment of Todd's skating career came when, during a performance, he lost his sense of direction and was seen heading uncontrollably down the tunnel of the studio set only to return after the routine had finished.
It may not have been part of the plan, but Todd was then placed in the Dancing On Ice hall of fame and a skating legend was born.
His return to the ice this week was much anticipated and while he may have been among much more talented skaters, Todd's popularity was clear from the roar of the audience.
Dressed in the loudest costume known to man, Todd shook a set of maracas to distract from the fact that he looked more like Bambi on ice and his comical facial expression made clear that he knows his purpose - keep 'em laughing.
Many questioned whether Todd would be able to stay upright on the ice, but considering he had FOUR professional skaters on hand to make sure that didn't happen, the odds looked good for his performance.
But while the crowd lapped it up, grumpy judge Jason Gardiner was less than impressed, as he asked the actor: "Why are you here? I wouldn't even say that was entertaining."
Boo you Jason Gardiner!
The voting public also embraced Todd's ice antics and kept him in the competition and no-one looked more surprised than the actor himself.
The final series of Dancing On Ice is filled with fantastic skaters so why not have the obligatory comedic performer?
Joe Pasquale was swiftly removed from the competition last week, so there is a space to be filled and Todd Carty fits the bill better than anyone.
Whether he will last much longer in the competition remains to be seen, but hopefully Todd will continue on the ice for a few more weeks at least, if only to annoy Jason.
