The battle begins

Dancing On Ice returned to our screens this week and gone are the days when one or two celebrity contestants could actually skate - this time they mean business.

Sure we had Joe Pasquale, and Todd Carty still has to make his much anticipated appearance on the ice, but the public made sure to eliminate Joe at the earliest possible moment and unless Todd has acquired some pretty sweet ice moves in the years since he was last on the show, chances are he will meet the same fate.

So who are we left with to battle for the coveted title of champion of champions?

Ray Quinn. Pretty sure he is going to win it.

It might be silly of me to immediately declare my victor, but yes he will definitely win.

Among the first batch of celebrity 'all-stars' we also had Corrie's Hayley Tamaddon, singer Gareth Gates, former rugby player Kyran Bracken and singer Bonnie Langford.

They can offer a nice spin on the ice and in no doubt will provide great entertainment throughout the series. But seriously, Ray will win.

And then there was Jorgie Porter.

Of all the names thrown into the mix for this year's final hurrah, the Hollyoaks actress was one contestant of which great things were expected.

Unfortunately she was partnered with her best friend's ex-boyfriend and because that relationship ended colder than the ice they skate on, the most awkward of Dancing On Ice teams was born.

I was expecting a great few weeks of drama that would usually be played out on the pages of gossip magazines, only now it would be brought to my TV screen every Sunday night.

But the voting public had other ideas and decided that because this was the final series of Dancing On Ice there was no time for such trivial matters.

Bit of a shame in my opinion...

So onwards and upwards and this Sunday will see the next set of celebrities take to the ice, including current champion Beth Tweddle.

No doubt we will be treated to some pretty great skating from so-called amateurs, Jason Gardiner will say something mean to annoy Karen Barber, Ashley Roberts will tell all the contestants they looked like they had so much fun out there and Robin Cousins will sit smugly at the end of the panel desk with a distinct "I'm head judge" look in his eye.

May the competition continue!!

Honestly though, I cannot stress this enough, Ray Quinn is going to win.
