Let's hear it for the boys

In a Dancing On Ice battle of the sexes this week, the girls put on a performance full of arm gestures to really show how great they are at ice skating...

Meanwhile, Sam and Kyran had Ray on their team and that was all they needed really.

It was inevitable the boys were going to be triumphant but you have to give Hayley, Suzanne and Beth credit for trying.

Team captain Hayley's enthusiasm in the pre-showcase VT had viewers collectively sighing "aww bless her".

Their group performance to The Bangles' Walk Like An Egyptian was good by anyone's standards, and you almost couldn't see Suzanne's resentment that Hayley was in charge and not her.

But the boys had Ray.

Despite Sam and Kyran 'dancing' like a drunk uncle at a wedding trying to relive his youth when the DJ plays an absolute tune, Ray made them look good by drawing the attention to him and the judges were sold.

So the boys' victory meant they doubled their scores and the girls were left vulnerable as the public voted to save their favourite celebrity and as was to be expected at this stage of the competition, the result was a shock.

At one point Suzanne had been tipped to be the only possible contender to topple Ray's reign, and considering her nearly perfect score on Sunday many thought she was safe - including Suzanne.

But when you have a competition full of previous champions upsets like Suzanne's elimination will happen and will continue to happen until the final....where Ray will be crowned the winner (ssshhh don't tell anyone).
