The deficit was too much for the Giants to overturn.

The game at Odyssey finished 4-3 to the visitors, who now progress to the final on an aggregate scoreline of 9-4.

Giants went ahead three times with goals from Matt Towe, Colin Shields and Jeff Mason, but on each occasion Nottingham responded.

The Panthers took the lead late on when Pat Galavan fired past Stephen Murphy to complete an emphatic victory over two legs, and see the champions through to defend their title.

Attention will now turn to the Elite League for the Giants, where they will take on Cardiff Devils in a double-header this weekend.
