Arrests after pensioner hit by pellet

Police are investigating the attack on the elderly woman outside the hospital.

Two arrests have been made by police after an 85-year-old woman was struck in the head with a pellet in Belfast.

The elderly woman was hit by the pellet as she got out of a car to visit a relative in the Mater Hospital on the Crumlin Road at about 7pm on Saturday.

The woman was treated for her injury, which is not believed to be life-threatening.

Police said they were aware of a number of similar incidents in the Crumlin Road area in recent days.

A 17-year-old who was arrested on Sunday evening in connection with the incident has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on Monday afternoon in the north Belfast area. He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
