Paint was daubed over a rock mural of the Union flag in the vicinity of Ballyward Orange Hall.

An Orange Order spokesman said that it was not the first time the property has been targeted.

He said: "It is no coincidence the Union Flag has been defaced at this time, particularly when those with an anti-Unionist agenda are determined to strip this Province of all elements of its Britishness.

"They must not be allowed to succeed.

"Although this hall is no longer used as an active meeting place for members, it is still nonetheless a deliberate attack on our Institution."

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
