A police chief has confirmed supermodel Naomi Campbell was mugged by two assailants in Paris last year.
Breaking reports suggested the British beauty was hailing a cab when she was violently attacked by thugs, who left her with a torn ligament.
Now a French official has spoken out about the incident, revealing two men on motorbikes tried to steal Campbell's handbag on the night of 21 November.
A statement to Reuters read: "There was an attempted robbery with violence."
Campbell filed a formal complaint with the police in Marais, where she declined a medical examination of her injuries, but she allegedly received treatment from a top orthopaedic surgeon after boarding a jet to Colorado.
The 42-year-old has yet to comment on the attack. She is believed to be recovering in Florida, ahead of the launch of her new TV show, The Face, next month.
