Ballycarry

Sitting overlooking Larne Lough and Islandmagee in a picturesque village. It's 11am, I should have two hours filming under my belt already but no amount of chanting 'rain rain go away' is rescuing our mission...

It's week four of 'Ulster Unearthed' and we are in Ballycarry in County Antrim.

The weather, thankfully, is starting to break and after one more coffee for the road, it's lights, camera, action.

The area is a known Ulster Scots stronghold and this week's experts are pretty excited at the prospect of finding evidence of a fort or early settlers' houses.

Our field is opposite the impressive Templecoran Church (the first Presbyterian church in Ireland) and I'm getting the feeling it's going to be an interesting fortnight.

But we are not the only ones with their eye on what's going on in this field.

The landowner Mr Topping is a property developer and although he too is excited at the prospect at what might be unearthed, he is keen to develop some of the land!

We certainly weren't disappointed on this dig as we discovered artefacts dating back thousands of years.

That's 'Ulster Unearthed'.

Hope you enjoy.
