In doing so, he staked his claim for a tilt at the British or Commonwealth belts.

Wilton dispatched his opponent in spectacular fashion to claim the vacant title, delivering the knockout blow within the first 90 seconds of the opening round.

With the fight billed as a potential British title eliminator, it's hoped that Wilton can now go on to face champion Chris Edwards for the domestic crown.

There were also wins for local boxers Alfredo Meli, Matthew Wilton, Moses Matova and Paul Moffett.
