Ulster have said they are confident Friday night's Heineken Cup meeting with Edinburgh will go ahead.
The Ravenhill pitch has begun thawing out after the cold snap, and with a climb in temperatures over the week, officials said they were expecting the match to go ahead.
Initial plans to erect a marquee have now been halted, with rain on Monday helping the pitch to rapidly thaw out.
Ulster said commercial blow heaters and covers will only be brought in during the week, if the pitch has not completely thawed; to ensure the playing surface is ready for Friday's game.
The team's players trained at the indoor 3G pitch at the Sports Institute of Northern Ireland at the University of Ulster at Jordanstown on Monday morning.
They are hopeful of a return to their usual training base for the remainder of the week at Newforge.
