Ulster Rugby's request not to have to play on Easter Sunday, in their Heineken Cup quarter-final clash with Munster, has been refused by the ERC.

The appeal was made given the religious importance of the day.

But an Ulster official said it was not due to the beliefs of the players and was instead a concern that fans would not attend because of the date.

Ulster are expected to fill their full allocation of 6,000 tickets for the trip to Thomond Park.
