Following an inspection of the Ravenhill pitch on Friday afternoon, match official Leighton Hodges deemed the pitch unplayable following a heavy downpour.

Ulster Rugby has apologised for the inconvenience caused and said tickets would be valid for the rescheduled fixture.

"The organisers of the RaboDirect PRO12 will confirm the new date for Ulster v Scarlets in the coming days," the club said.

"Ulster Rugby would like to thank our supporters for their understanding in these exceptional circumstances and to apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Ulster Rugby Chief Executive Shane Logan told UTV: "The game is likely to be played on (Friday) 7 March or (Friday) 14 March, probably the second of the two, and that will be decided by the League next week."

Ulster currently sit third in the league, seven points behind leaders Munster.
