Ulster hurlers crushed by Munster

Ulster fell to a crushing 3-20 to 1-14 in their M Donnelly Interprovincial Hurling semi-final at the Athletic Grounds on Sunday.

Three goals in the space of five first half minutes from Limerick's Graeme Mulcahy and Paudie O'Sullivan effectively killed the game off.

Munster led by 3-12 to 1-04 at half-time the Ulster goal coming from Antrim's Neil McManus who top scored with 1-7.

Ulster started with nine Antrim players and trailed by a single point after 13 minutes before things went badly wrong.

But Munster then struck three goals in quick succession with Mulcahy finishing the first halfg with a tally of 2-2.

It was not long before Munster started to make inroads into their hosts' defence and they scored three goals from Mulcahy and O'Sullivan.

Ulster skipper McManus scored Ulster's goal after 21 minutes after being set up by Shane McNaughton.

With the game effectively over Munster took their foot off the pedal in the second half and Ulster outscored them by 10 points to 8.
