Ferris, who has missed most of the season through injury, is being linked with a move to Japan once his current contract expires at the end of June.

Ulster rugby said he is currently negotiating with the IRFU on a potential new contract but has yet to sign a deal with the club or anyone else.

A spokesman added: "Until a conclusion is reached in those negotiations, Ulster Rugby will not be making any further comment."
