Tyrone to debate TV ban

Tyrone are considering a ban on television cameras at the county's upcoming National Football League games.

The move follows a row over a decision by the GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee to ban three Tyrone players after using video evidence taken from television broadcasts to review incidents from the Red Hand county's opening NFL Division One game against Derry.

The CCCC handed one month bans to Martin Penrose, Justin McMahon and Conor Gormley after reviewing live TV coverage of the match on 6 February.

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte was without the trio for Saturday's defeat to Mayo.

Derry's Eoin Bradley was also banned for four weeks.

A county spokesman told UTV: "It doesn't seem fair that we are being penalised just because our game was shown live on TV.

"There will be a county management meeting on Tuesday (23 February), where the proposal will be discussed more fully.

"We have no problem with bans so long as the same criteria applies to all other counties in terms of video evidence.

"All we are looking for is a bit of equality."
