Tyrone eased past Louth by a massive margin of 17 points at Healy Park in Omagh to book their place in the second round.
It was 0-9 to 0-7 ahead of the break but it was clear Mickey Harte's side were in control in the second half.
Two goals were then scored within five minutes. Emmett McKenna was on target for the first and veteran player Stephen O'Neill palmed the second into the net.
Shay McGuigan - who was making his Championship debut - should have scored a third goal for the Red Hands but hit the bar.
Meanwhile Cavan beat Westmeath by a single point - 1-15 to 1-14 in their round one qualifier.
The Breffni men trailed by 0-7 points to 0-6 at the break. Ger Egan scored two brilliant points.
Cavan came out strong in the second half with Niall McDermott scoring a goal in the 42nd minute.
But Westmeath replied with a John Gilligan goal to reduce the gap to one point.
Terry Hyland's side hung on for a nervous final period to grab the victory by the slimmest of margins.
