Laois v Armagh, Saturday 7.30pm (Portlaoise)

Armagh were comfortable winners over Westmeath in the last NFL round but were beaten by Laois last year.

Armagh GAA Corner Forward Steven McDonnell told UTV the game against the Midlanders is key to their promotion hopes.

"Laois have proved a pretty sticky outfit for us over the last couple of years. I think it's 3 or 4 games since we beat them so going down to their home patch will be tough and we are expecting nothing easy down there."

McDonnell hit six points in the defeat to Meath and followed that up with 1-9 - all from play against Westmeath at St Oliver Plunkett Park.

"The most pleasing thing about it was that we played well as a team over 60 minutes. For Armagh fans looking in that was a pleasing factor as well because it's a long time since we played like that there," he told UTV.

McDonnell made his debut for Armagh in 1999 and has notched up Six Ulster Titles and an All Ireland medal.

By his own high standards the past few seasons haven't been his best.

However, he approached this season with renewed determination and that has shown in his play.

"I worked hard in the winter, harder than I have worked for the past couple of years and it's starting to pay off now. The key is to get the wins on the board for Armagh," McDonnell said.

Monaghan v Tyrone, Sunday 2.30pm (Inniskeen)

Meanwhile, Tyrone take on Monaghan in Inniskeen in a Division One bottom-of-the-table clash on Sunday.

Justin McMahon, Conor Gormley, and Martin Penrose are all back for the Red Hand County.

The players were banned after Tyrone's opening league defeat by Derry.

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte has made six changes in all from the side which lost by one point to Mayo.

Owen Mulligan and Raymond Mulgrew return to the team, while Johnny Curran replaces Pascal McConnell in goal.

Justin McMahon comes in place of older brother Joe, who is currently serving a four week ban, at full-back.

Kyle Coney has been rested ahead of next week's Under-21 Championship clash with Derry.

The anticipated return of Brian Dooher and Sean Cavanagh to the match-day group, has been put on hold but Ciaran Gourley and Ryan Mellon return to the substitutes' bench after injury.

Ronan McNabb, Enda McGinley and Eoin McCusker each drop to the bench.
