Taylor was tipped for success having won four successive world titles and also five consecutive European gold medals.
Roared on by thousands of Irish supporters at ExCel South Arena 2, she set the pace from the start of the bout with an early combination on Liverpool's Jonas.
The second was more even as the Team GB fighter rocked Taylor's head back with a hard right - but the Irishwoman responded with a crisp combination.
With a halfway lead of 10-7, Taylor went on to dominate the third and moved 19-11 ahead before taking another count in the last to secure an imperious win.
It puts her into the semi-finals and secures at least a bronze medal.
