The 26-year-old Bray fighter won the bout 17-9 and is now guaranteed at least a silver medal for Team Ireland.
In the quarter-finals on Monday, she beat Britain's Natasha Jonas 26-15.
Taylor has already won four successive world titles and also five consecutive European gold medals.
Elsewhere on Wednesday for Team Ireland, Alistair Cragg missed out on a place in the Olympic 5,000 metres final after a poor run in the heats.
The 32-year-old, who is originally from South Africa, finished 17th with a time of 13.47.01 seconds.
This was well short of what was required for a fastest loser spot.
Meanwhile, in equestrian, although Ireland did not qualify a showjumping team for London 2012, Cian O'Connor has left himself firmly in individual medal contention in the final rounds on Wednesday afternoon.
