Antrim Champions St Gall's are firm favourites heading into the final of the Ulster Club football Championship on Sunday against The Loup.

The sides last met in 2003 with the Derry team coming out on top despite strong performance from the Belfast Club.

Sunday's game in Newry will be St Gall's second final in two years after they were beaten by Crossmaglen in 2007.

Although The Loup go into the tie as underdogs, manager John Brennan remains confident.

"I respect all opponents. Any team that gets to an Ulster final has to be respected. They've been there before, the Loup have been there before and to me as in any other game that we have encountered this year, it's very much on the day," he told UTV.

"We very much go into the game with St Gall's as underdogs, but we will, as we have done in every game so far, give a good account of ourselves. You don't come out of Derry as champions unless you're a good side, just as you don't emerge as Antrim winners for the same reason."

Brennan has one injury worry ahead of the clash, as Gavin Mallon might not be fit for the game. It will be a blow to the Derry title holders who also were without him for the semi-final win over Kilcoo.

Meanwhile, St Galls' Kevin McGourty said the Belfast side are keen to improve on their record against their Derry rivals.

"Antrim-Derry rivalry has always been pretty hot. We've played two Derry Champions before in the finals of 2003 and 2005 we're one and one so hopefully we can turn the tables and make it two and one on Sunday again and get a bit of revenge," McGourty said.

But manager Lenn Harbinson, who won the Ulster Club title with St Gall's in 1982, told UTV he wasn't expecting a classic in Newry.

"It's the time of year now where pitches are heavy and the ball doesn't travel as fast, so they tend to be dour struggles. You know if you look at the scoring stats over the last number of weeks very few teams are scoring more than maybe ten points or a goal and eleven, so I expect it to be a real tight tough game."

Sunday's clash will be held at Newry's Pairc Esler, with a 2.30pm throw-in.
