With Linfield top of the table ahead of the clash at Stangmore Park the pressure was on Tommy Breslin's side to get a positive result.

The visitors dominated proceedings before conceding against the run of play when Chris Lavery converted from close range early in the second half.

However Cliftonville bounced back and Diarmuid O'Carroll fired in the equaliser nine minutes later before substitute Garrett sealed the win with a scrambled effort three minutes from time.

Elsewhere on Saturday, David Cushley scored twice as Ballymena United secured a 3-2 victory over Warrenpoint Town at the Ballymena Showgrounds.

Cushley grabbed the opener with a fierce drive in the 24th minute and added a second from the spot after Town keeper Jonathan Parr had been sent off for bringing down Allan Jenkins inside the area.

Despite being reduced to ten men Warrenpoint responded with a 67th minute goal from Stephen McCabe, who coolly chipped the ball over Dwayne Nelson in the Ballymena goal.

However Darren Boyce volleyed home to make it 3-1 seven minutes from time and in spite of a late strike from Stephen Hughes two minutes from time Ballymena were full value for the win.

Finally on Saturday, Portadown twice came from behind to seal a 3-2 victory away to Coleraine.

Owen Bradley continued his fine scoring form with the opening goal in the 15th minute, but Matthew Rooney scored his first in a Ports jersey to make it all-square with half an hour gone.

David Miskelly was culpable for the Bannsiders second goal just before the break as he let Joe O'Neill's tame effort trickle into the net, but Portadown substitute Tim Mouncey scored almost immediately after his 60th minute introduction to make it 2-2.

Darren Murray netted the winner four minutes later with a swerving effort from outside the area to seal victory that sees Ronnie McFall's side move up to fourth in the table.

While Crusaders may be bossing the Danske Bank Premiership, it was their North Belfast rivals Cliftonville who made the headlines again this weekend.
