There were no heroics for the Mallards at Solitude on Tuesday night to follow their weekend success against Linfield.
Joe Gormley scored a hat-trick for the Reds.
Meanwhile the Blues secured a 1-0 win over Coleraine at the Showgrounds, courtesy of Michael Carvill's late goal in extra-time.
He scored with a glorious free kick in the 120th minute.
Glentoran were taken beyond extra-time, needing a penalty shoot-out to see off Institute at Drumahoe after the game was two each after extra-time.
Stuart Elliott and Markus Kane scored for the Glens, with Darren McAuley and Michael McCrudden scoring for Institute.
Jay Magee scored the winning penalty in the shoot-out for Eddie Patterson's team.
Portadown came away from Bangor with a 4-0 win.
Early goals settled the tie in the Ports favour with Sean Mackle in the 8th minute and Ryan Burns in the 13th and 22nd minutes paving the way for the Shamrock Park club's progress.
Crusaders scored four in a much more narrow 4-3 success at Carrick.
It was an amazing comeback from Stephen Baxter's side who were trailing 2-0 inside 15 minutes, with David Gibson eventually netting the Crues' winner.
Lisburn Distillery won by nine goals to nil against Coagh United.
