Lisburn Distillery came from behind to line up a victory that would hoist them into third spot in the table. However, an own goal seconds from the last whistle handed Dungannon Swifts an equaliser they probably deserved.

Dungannon Swifts 2 - 2 Lisburn Distillery

Dungannon went close early on through Terry Fitzpatrick and Mickey Ward before Timmy Adamson was denied by goalie Philip Matthews.

Distillery had an occasional chance as well, with Gary Liggett heading wide and Mark Patton disappointed after being put in on goal by Andy Kilmartin.

Swifts broke the deadlock on 35 minutes with a neat finish from Adamson after Niall Henderson provided the telling pass from the edge of the box.

Two minutes from the break Patton's low strike came back off the post and midfielder Gary Thompson avoided closing defenders to equalise for The Whites.

Early in the second half, Swifts missed a good chance to get back in front when Ryan McIlmoyle blasted the ball well over the target.

Thompson fired narrowly wide for The Whites from a tricky angle and Adamson had a header punched off the line after a Swifts corner.

Then Andy Hunter of Distillery fired a shot just over, while Dungannon's Fergal McAliskey had a shot deflected wide.

Distillery looked winners after taking the lead on 79 minutes when Patton steered home a left-footed shot after substitute David Cushley crossed.

But Swifts hadn't given up the fight and, after Adamson headed onto the crossbar, they had a big slice of luck right at the end when Adamson's rocket shot careered off the upright against Pat McShane's back and into the net.

"We said that it is all-important to get the first goal; we did that but it didn't settle us down and we sat a little deeper and invited Distillery onto us and paid the price for that. There was a willingness to do well for the club, but you don't start defending 1-0 leads after 30 minutes" reflected Swifts boss Dixie Robinson.
