The Belfast Giants lost out to Nottingham Panthers in their Elite League away game on Saturday, despite taking an early lead.
Colin Shields opened the scoring for the Giants after just two minutes and racked up another goal after the opposition's equaliser to make it 2-1 to the visitors by the 13th minute.
But the Giants had to struggle without the services of defenceman Sean McMorrow as his temper got the better of him. Just three seconds into the game, he received a five-minute penalty and went on to soon earn another - along with a game penalty for fighting which saw him leave the ice before the end of the first period, picking up yet another sanction for boarding as he went.
With plenty more penalties encurring throughout, the game ended badly for the Belfast side. They failed to answer as the Panthers clocked up a total of six goals to their two.
It came after a 2-2 draw on Friday night at home against the Newcastle Vipers in the Challenge Cup - when the Giants again let a two-goal lead slip through their fingers.
For the Panthers, it was the sixth win in seven games and kept them secure at the top of the league table.
The Giants are next in action on Saturday October 10th when they face the Cardiff Devils at the Odyssey Arena.
