Crusaders 4 - 1 Newry City
Still smarting from their quarter-final defeat to Portadown in midweek, the Crues were 2 - 0 up after 16 minutes with Ross Arthurs and Jordan Owens on target.
Without the injured Colin Coates, Chris Morrow or David Rainey, the Crues had a few nervy moments in defence and had to play the final 33 minutes with only ten men after Mickey Collins was controversially sent off by referee Colin Burns.
Burns adjudged that Collins handled the ball in the box and showed him a second yellow card but the midfielder claimed he headed Gerard Rowe's cross away to safety.
It seemed to be a harsh decision but after Stephen Garrett drilled home the penalty, it was the home side who finished with a flourish. Two goals in two minutes settled the contest.
Gareth McKeown powered in the third goal in the 80th minute and the game was won when Aaron Black placed the ball beyond goalkeeper Andy Coleman a minute later.
