Newington to face Swifts in Irish Cup

Giant-killing Newington YC will face Carling Premiership opposition in the next round of the JJB Sports Irish Cup, following Saturday's sixth round draw.

The Amateur League side, who secured a shock 1-0 victory over Glentoran at the Oval on Saturday, will face a trip to Dungannon Swifts in the last-16 of the competition.

Elsewhere two all-Premiership clashes have been confirmed for the sixth round, with Glenavon hosting Crusaders and Linfield welcoming Carrick Rangers to Windsor Park.

Cliftonville could also face top-flight opponents, although Donegal Celtic must beat Championship side Institute to book a home tie against the Reds in the next round.

Elsewhere Coleraine will face Ballinamallard Utd, while Ballymena Utd will travel to Derriaghy CC.

Ballymoney Utd face a home tie against Newry City, with Newbuildings Utd facing a trip to face the winners of the fifth round replay between Coagh Utd and Loughgall.

All sixth round ties are due to be played on Saturday 11 February.

WELL DONE TO NEWINGTON ON THEIR PERFORMANCE TODAY. AS A GLENS FAN I HOPE THE BOARD SEE SENCE AND GIVE SCOTT TIME. THE PLAYERS ARNT GOOD ENOUGH.THEY DONT HAVE THE HUNGER AND DESIRE REQUIRED TO PLAY FOR GLENTORAN. THERE IS ONLY A FEW WHO HAVE PERFORMED THIS SEASON.
