Thousands of fans flocked to Brechin City's ground for the Ramsdens Cup fixture as Rangers began life as a third division outfit.

Northern Ireland star Andrew Little, who re-signed for the Ibrox club on Saturday, opened the scoring early in the first half.

But second division Brechin levelled with Andrew Jackson's goal just before the break.

Rangers couldn't re-take the lead in the 90 minutes but a winner eventually came in extra time through Lee McCulloch.

It puts the newco in the draw for the second round of the Ramsdens Cup.

Off to a fine start, now watch the teams in the SPL drop like flies. The Rangers Fc actually ady. It's not unusual for football teams to change their name eg. Celtic Fc have changed theirs a few times.

Wrong alan... The team is called "The Rangers", "Glasgow Rangers F.C" no longer exist.
