The 24-year-old signed a two year contract with Craig Brown's side following several seasons at Parkhead.

The Co Tyrone man said on Wednesday that he was thankful to join Aberdeen at the start of the pre-season.

McGinn, spent last season on loan at npower League One side Brentford and revealed he is looking forward to working under Craig Brown at Pittodrie.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Brentford last season and, playing week in week out has, I believe, made me a better player.

"Craig Brown has big plans for the club and I definitely want to be a part of that."

McGinn added that Brown's vision for the side encouraged him to move, despite other offers on the table.

"Once Aberdeen came knocking I was more than happy to sign here," he explained.

"There's no reason why we can't do well this season and bring success back to the club."
