Northern Ireland face a stiff challenge having been drawn in Group C with world champions Italy in the qualifiers for the Euro 2012 Championships.
Nigel Worthington's side will also face Serbia, Slovenia, Estonia and the Faroe Islands after Sunday's draw in Warsaw.
In Group B the Republic of Ireland will go up against Russia, Slovakia, FYR Macedonia, Armenia, and Andorra.
Group G has seen England handed a favourable draw alongside home nation Wales, Switzerland, Bulgaria, and Montenegro.
England last played Wales back in 2005 in a World Cup qualifier, claiming a 1-0 win in Cardiff.
Champions Spain will face Czech Republic and Scotland as they begin their European Championship defence.
In Group I, Spain will also face Lithuania and Liechtenstein.
In Group D, 2000 winners France will go alongside Romania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Belarus, Albania, and Luxembourg.
