The former Northern Ireland skipper died at the age of 48 on 23 June.
McDonald also previously captained English Premier League side Queens Park Rangers and past stars of the club turned out to honour their former teammate in a game against an NI Legends side.
The match was held to officially launch The Alan McDonald Trust, set up by his wife Tonia and close friends.
Former international teammates, such as Jim Magilton and Iain Dowie, donned the Northern Ireland shirt again in memory of Big Mac.
QPR, managed by former boss Gerry Francis, included household names such as Les Ferdinand, Ray Wilkins, and Andy Sinton.
Kevin Gallen was first on the scoresheet, firing past Tommy Wright.
Paul Furlong doubled the London side's advantage.
James Quinn pulled one back for Northern Ireland, before Gallen restored the two goal lead.
And substitute Glenn Ferguson netted the final goal of the night as the game finished 3-2.
