It is understood that a 23-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a 51-year-old in a wine bar in Clitheroe at about 10pm on Wedneday.
According to Lancashire Constabulary, he did not require hospital treatment.
"Inquiries are ongoing and we are speaking to a number of people to try to establish the circumstances," a police statement said.
"There are a number of differing accounts which we need to work through to try to establish exactly what has happened.
"No-one has been arrested at this stage."
Moyes, a Scotsman whose mother is from Portrush in Co Antrim, replaced Sir Alex Ferguson as manager at Old Trafford - but was axed after just one season at the helm.
He was replaced in the interim by Ryan Giggs, who has now taken up the assistant position under new manager Louis van Gaal.
