Eoin Morgan has declared that he would love to become England's first Irish-born captain, but is in no rush to do so just yet.

Morgan's position of increasing responsibility in his adopted country's teams across the formats saw him confirmed as England's Twenty20 vice-captain last week.

There was a suggestion the Dublin-born batsman might even be pressed into action as captain while Stuart Broad was struggling with a minor heel injury.

Broad was fit in the end to lead his country for the first time, while Morgan is also in the ranks in both one-day international and Test cricket, under Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss respectively.

Asked whether he would like to captain England, the 24-year-old said: "It is absolutely a long-term target of mine.

"If you asked anybody 'Would they like to captain England in a Test match, one-day international or Twenty20' they would jump at the chance."
