Northern Ireland golfer and world number one Rory McIlroy isn't resting on his laurels, despite racking up his third PGA Tour title of the year.

The 23-year-old from Holywood, Co Down, picked up his latest win in the Deutsche Bank Championship in Massachusetts, but is quickly turning his attention to future competitions.

McIlroy still has two more FedEx Cup play-off events and the Ryder Cup to come this month.

To get to world number one, back up a major-winning season with another major, get three wins on the PGA Tour - this year has been a big year for me.

"I've learned how to handle winning big events - not dwelling on what's happened, just moving forward, just trying to win another golf tournament, trying to put myself in position," he said.

"There's a time and a place to celebrate and enjoy what you've done, and going into the play-offs isn't it."

McIlroy shot a four-under-par 67 in his final round to win at Norton to win by one stroke on 20 under from third-round leader Louis Oosthuizen.

"When the Ryder Cup is over, for sure I'll think back and enjoy the great golf I've played over the last few weeks," he added.
