The world number four carded a three-under 68 to go seven over for the tournament.
His round included an eagle on the 13th hole and four birdies - plus a double-bogey and one bogey - as he turned in an improved performance compared to earlier this week.
He was one of just six players to finish in Illinois on Sunday before the skies opened and everyone was told to go home and return on Monday.
Currently leader Jim Furyk was among 22 players who didn't see any action. The American will face an overnight wait before he can pursue the title.
Portrush man Graeme McDowell was one shot over after seven holes.
It looks like both Northern Ireland golfers are now set to miss out on a place at next week's Tour Championship in Atlanta.
