Northern Ireland golfer Graeme McDowell is three shots off the lead after two rounds of the Honda Classic in Florida.
McDowell is five under par but, in the truest spirit of the game, called a two shot penalty on himself on the last hole, to miss out on the chance to move within one off the leaders.
Camillo Villegas of Columbia and America's Anthony Kim share the lead on eight under, with McDowell carding a second round of 67 adding to his opening score of 68.
The Ulsterman started his round with a birdie at the first before picking up a further two shots with back-to-back birdies at the third and fourth holes.
After a run of seven pars in a row McDowell picked up another two birdies at the 12th and 14th holes to move to seven under for the tournament.
His tee shot on his final hole found the water but McDowell could see enough of the ball to make contact and move it up the fairway and looked to be on his way to saving par, however as he stepped out away from the shot he questioned the on-course commentators about whether or not he had disturbed the water with his backswing.
A replay in the television studio showed the Portrush man had disturbed the surface of the water as he took the club away from the ball and before signing his card he agreed with the officials that there was a penalty and signed for a seven on his closing hole.
McDowell's fellow countryman Rory McIlroy fired a second round one under par 69 to leave him level par for the tournament while Padraig Harrington carded a second successive round of 71 to leave him two over par and ten shots off the lead.
