Northern Ireland golfer Gareth Maybin is one under par after the opening day of the Qatar Masters in Doha, with England’s Oliver Wilson leading the field.
The Ballyclare man shot a first round of 71.
After dropping a shot on the par three third hole, he made the turn at level par thanks to a birdie at the long par four sixth.
He picked up another shot on par 5 18th to go into the second round in a tie for 15th place.
Fellow countryman Graeme McDowell carried his poor form from last week into his first round shooting a 73.
Back to back bogeys on his front nine would see him make the turn at level par also.
Two more dropped shots at the par four 12th and 14th meant a birdie at 16 had added value.
Michael Hoey also got off to a disappointing start with a two over par round of 74.
